Afternoon activities

After breakfast, dive into Harrisonburg’s vibrant bike culture. Whether you’re a road rider, casual cruiser or mountain-biking enthusiast, the city has something for everyone. Rent a bike from one of Harrisonburg’s local shops, ask for a local ride recommendation or explore the Friendly City Trail — a 2-mile paved path through Westover Park. For more adventure, head to the Rocktown mountain-biking trails at Hillandale Park. After your ride, pedal back to Main Street to shop at Agora Downtown Market, a historic building filled with locally owned businesses.

Saturday lunch

Satisfy your midday cravings with authentic tacos and tamales at Mexi Deli, a local favorite and hidden gem located inside an Exxon station.

Sunday breakfast

Don’t leave town without experiencing brunch at Magpie Diner, located in a beautifully renovated, 1950s tire-service station. The line starts queuing up before 9 a.m., but the wait is worth it. While you stand by, enjoy a mimosa at Rootstock Wine Bar & Provisions across the street or browse the shops at Liberty St. Mercantile. To cap off your weekend in the ’Burg, be sure to try Magpie’s seasonal biscuit with fillings, which changes every two weeks depending on what ingredients are available from local vendors.
